Anderson Cooper Talks Egypt Attack with Letterman
After receiving a hero's welcome outside the Ed Sullivan theatre, Anderson Cooper sat down with David Letterman and recalled the attack that he and his CNN crew endured at the hands of angry Egyptian protesters.
"People came from all around surrounding us, punching us, kicking us, trying to rip the clothes off my female producer."
Cooper went on to explain his "lost in translation" moment while being pummeled. "I thought I was saying 'peace,' which is 'salaam,' but as this guy was punching me I was actually saying to him, 'inshallah,' which is 'God willing,' so he's punching me. Yeah, I know."
