Simon Cowell 'Disappointed' with 'X Factor' Finale Results
"Extra's" Terri Seymour sat down with good friend Simon Cowell to chat about "The X Factor's" Sunday night finale.
Singer Matt Cardle was voted the winner of the hit UK show, beating the group One Direction, which was being mentored by Cowell.
"I was disappointed. But Cardle was a very, very popular contestant from day one," Cowell told Seymour.
"The X Factor" finale was the most watched in the series' history, making it clear why FOX is bringing the show to the US.
Cowell still won't confirm who the US show's judges and shot down reports that Cheryl Cole has signed on, saying "Nobody's been confirmed." He also bantered with Seymour he'd give "Extra" an exclusive right now.
TERRI: "When will you be making the announcement about the judges? Time is running out!"
SIMON: "I'll make one. Exclusive?"
TERRI: "Exclusive."
SIMON: "Okay. Secret?"
TERRI: "Top secret."
SIMON: "I'm judging the show."
When Seymour asked Cowell's thoughts on rocker Gene Simmons' comment about himself being a better judge, Cowell responded, "He's not." Seymour wondered if Simon had anything else to say about it? "He's got a longer tongue than me. Right?" Cowell quipped, adding, "I wouldn't say I've got a longer tongue than him."
"The X Factor" will appear on FOX in 2011.
