"Extra's" Mario Lopez caught up with Oscar winner Denzel Washington in Los Angeles Tuesday, where both he and Washington announced Jennifer Lopez as the first female national spokesperson for The Boys & Girls Club of America.

When asked by Mario where he thought he'd be if he hadn't been in The Boys & Girls Club, Washington said that being a part of the organization as a child changed his life, adding sentimentally, "I wouldn't be here."

Denzel is currently being featured in Times Square in an ad for the club, which he said means more than anything.

"I've done a lot of movies been blessed to be all over the world, but seeing that picture up on Broadway in New York... it was one of the proudest moments," he said. "It was like you know, coming all the way from the club, coming all the way from that time to now."
