Lifechangers: Jennifer Garner Makes Lemonade to Fight Cancer

November 19, 2010 Lifechangers

Actress Jennifer Garner turned "Extra's" Lifechanger when she served as the honorary chair for L.A. Loves Alex's Lemonade Culinary Cookout.

"Alex's Lemonade Stand was started by this little girl named Alexandra Scott who had cancer when she was 4 years old," Garner explained. "She said to her mom in the hospital 'As soon as I get out of here I want to have a lemonade stand.' That first lemonade stand raised $2,000 and as she went on, she kept having one lemonade stand after another and ended up raising all of this money before she died. When there's this kind of passion coming out of this sick little body, you can't help but want to be a part of carrying on her legacy."

Garner said she couldn't imagine as a parent hearing your child has cancer. "It is such a terrifying thought that your natural reaction is to look away or pretend like it's not happening but it is happening."
