Jessica Simpson on Engagement: 'I Was Shocked'
Singer and fashion designer Jessica Simpson gushed on the "The Early Show" Monday about her new fiance Eric Johnson, and his surprising marriage proposal.
"I had to sit on his knee -- I was so shocked," Simpson said. "To really get what was happening."
After seeing the ring, Jessica admits she didn't try it on for five minutes. "I first said 'Yes'... I didn't even try the ring on until five minutes in. I just sat there and cried with him."
Simpson's engagement came as a surprise to many, since the two have been dating for just six months, but she said her beau had it planned for awhile.
"He had it planned a long time ago," she said. "He had sat with my mom and dad... he was a gentleman about it."
The bride-to-be said that Johnson is "the best man in my life... he is just really thoughtful. Keeps me very centered. Makes me feel like my feet are on the ground," adding, "He's the most special part of my life and my day."
