Demi Lovato's Folks Say Thanks for the Support

As pop singer Demi Lovato undergoes treatment for "emotional and physical issues," her parents are reaching out to fans to thank them for standing by the Disney Channel starlet.

"Our entire family appreciates the outpouring of support we have received from Demi's fans," her stepfather Eddie and mom Dianna De La Garza told People.com. "We are touched by their kindness." (Demi's father, Patrick, and her mother divorced in 1994.)

The 18-year-old is currently receiving treatment for issues stemming from eating disorders and "cutting," a form of self-mutilation, a source close to the family said.

The source stated, "Demi is not receiving care at one of the Hollywood-type centers. She is at a real facility that specializes in helping adolescent and adult women with the type of issues she has battled."
