'Star Trek's' Karl Urban Says Sequel in the Stars

October 14, 2010 Celebrity Highlights

Actor Karl Urban, who played Leonard "Bones" McCoy in the J.J. Abrams hit film "Star Trek," stopped by The Grove and told "Extra's" Mario Lopez "Star Trek 2" is near liftoff.

"I think we're gonna start shooting that mid next year. I'm looking forward to it," Urban said, adding, "When J.J. Abrams and the writers get together, they're like a bunch of Einsteins. They are going to create something special."

Urban co-stars in "Red," an action film opening this weekend, in which he takes on old-school ass-kicker Bruce Willis. Who was tougher? Urban explained, "We give each other a pretty good crack of the whip. Blood was drawn, let's put it that way. Neither of us held back!"

The busy actor also has a few more films in orbit, including a reboot of Sylvester Stallone's "Judge Dredd," and "Priest," in which Urban plays a vampire. He laughed, "Just checking off all the roles I want to play!"
