Paula Abdul Auditions Thousands for 'Live to Dance'

October 14, 2010 Television

Thousands turned out in New York to audition for Paula Abdul's new TV show, "Live to Dance," and "Extra's" AJ Calloway was there for all the action.

Paula bubbled, "It's unlike any other dance show because it's open to the very young ones," adding, "From 5 to 105-years-old... it's for the young ones at heart."

Looking back at her first dance audition, Paula laughed and said it was for "The Gong Show." "I was wearing red, white and blue... I was performing You're a Grand Old Flag," said the former "Idol" judge.

"Live to Dance" is set to debut mid-season on CBS, around the same time as "American Idol" -- but we can stifle the competition rumors now. The singer told us, "I'm a big fan of 'American Idol.' I always will be, and I know it's going to be a good season for them."
