Michael Douglas Talks about Throat Cancer on 'Late Show'

August 31, 2010 Celebrity Highlights

Actor/producer Michael Douglas opened up to "Late Show" host David Letterman about his battle with throat cancer on Tuesday.

The Oscar-winning actor, who found out three weeks ago that he had Stage 4 throat cancer, revealed he's in the first week of an eight-week treatment. He also explained "this particular type of cancer is caused by alcohol and drinking."

According to Douglas, recovery seems likely. "The percentages are very good. I would hate to say, but right now, it looks like it should be 80 percent, and with certain hospitals and everything, it does improve."

"Extra" caught the "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" actor as he arrived to the set of the "Late Show with David Letterman." Check out the video!

Here's a sneak peek of the interview, airing Tuesday night on "The Late Show with David Letterman."
