Tim Gunn Fires at Celeb Style

August 12, 2010 Television

"Project Runway" mentor Tim Gunn never shies away from an honest critique.

"Extra" sat down with the fashion guru to talk about celeb fashion style, analyzing the likes of Meryl Streep, Lady Gaga and Angelina Jolie.

"I love Meryl Streep, I am an unbridled fan, but I think she believes she's too smart for fashion," Gunn said. "Let's have a talk Meryl, because I believe she can do a little better!"

Lady Gaga? "I have the greatest respect for Lady Gaga, however, she should be in no one's fashion vocabulary. If she has a favorite designer it has to be Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus."

And Angelina? "I look at Angelina Jolie, and I've never known her to make a mistake. She knows what looks great on her. Flawless!"

As to the current crop of "Project Runway" designers, Gunn says they aren't as tough as previous contestants. "This season of 'Project Runway,' we have a bunch of rare, hothouse flowers. They have the stamina of an orchid in the Arctic."
