Set up by the Ann and George Lopez Foundation, the Kidney Disease and Transplant Summer Camp Session has joined with The Painted Turtle at Lake Hughes, Calif. and created a summer program for young patients who can receive on-site medical treatment for their needs.

The Lopezes said, "We're excited that our Foundation is partnering with The Painted Turtle to launch this new summer camp program. The opportunities and experiences created here for children allow them to become more independent and self-confident while providing them the ability to live a normal life."

The camp is designed to allow patients, ages 9 through 16, to enjoy normal camp activities, such as swimming, arts and crafts and horseback riding, and free themselves from the burdens that come with their disease and its treatment. A fully equipped medical facility is created on-site where children dialyze and receive their treatment as well.
