In a suspected move, the former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman has been officially charged with the murder of his wife, ABC News reports. According to the Mexican authorities, the arrest warrant was issued on Monday.

Bruce and Monica Beresford-Redman

Monica Beresford-Redman's beaten and strangled body was found on April 8 near a Cancun resort where she and her husband were vacationing. Since that time, the Mexican police asked Beresford to remain in the country while the investigation took place, but he left a week ago and returned to California. Beresford's attorney claimed his client was under no legal restraint to remain in Mexico.

It has also been reported that Beresford had taken out two sizable life insurance policies before his family left on vacation, both payable in case of accidental death while traveling. The TV producer's attorney, however, said the couple's two small children are the beneficiaries.

The children remain with Beresford's parents, despite a recent attempt by Monica's sister to gain custody.
