March 29, 2010 Movies

The documentary "You Saved Me" -- an emotional, in-depth look into the marriages of eight African American couples -- drew thousands nationwide this past weekend.

DC area You Saved Me premiere sells out.

Created by Essence.com bloggers Lamar and Ronnie Tyler, "You Saved Me" dissuades negative views of African-American marriage by promoting positive, real-life images of black couples. The film opened in 28 cities nationwide in honor of Black Marriage Day.

The DC area screening sold out, with dozens of people turned away. "You Saved Me" creators are planning a second local screening for the month of April. Details of the event are forthcoming.

"You Saved Me" is available for purchase at Amazon.com.
