March 26, 2010 As Seen On Extra

C. diff is a drug-resistant superbug that you can catch in the hospital. What's the best way to prevent it? Here are Dr. Alina Dorian's four precautions!

1) Wash your hands with soap and water, and do it long enough that you can sing the "Happy Birthday" song twice. 2) Health care workers: wear masks and gloves. 3) Disinfect. Use hospital grade, chlorine-based products and ask if the hospital room has been disinfected for C. diff before checking in. 4) Use antibiotics judiciously to avoid creating resistant "superbugs."
