Jack Bauer is back -- in a dress!

"24" star Kiefer Sutherland appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" last night, sporting a green granny dress for the sit-down.

Sutherland, 43, tells Letterman that he donned the dress because of a football bet he lost with a pal. "I was so sure that the New England [Patriots] was going to win, that I told a guy who used to be my friend that if New England lost, I'd wear a dress on Letterman."

Sutherland continues, "This, I think might be the most humiliating moment of life, and I've had a few to choose from."

"24" premieres Sunday at 9 PM on FOX.
