Cate Blanchett Hit by Flying Radio
Word from down under is that actress Cate Blanhett suffered a head injury after being hit by a prop during a stage performance in Australia on Wednesday.
During Wednesday's show, cast member Joel Edgerton threw a radio, as scripted, which hit Blanchett on the head. The Oscar-winner is currently starring as Blanche DuBois in The Sydney Theatre Company's "A Streetcar Named Desire."
An audience member tells the Sydney Morning Herald that "she had blood streaming down the back of her head and blood on the back of her neck."
"She acted for about another 30 seconds, then ran into what we thought was the next scene, but before we knew it the lights were turned on and we were told there were technical difficulties and everyone had to evacuate the Sydney Theatre Company," the witness adds.
The Sydney Theatre Company released a statement saying, ''Cate's fine. I've just spoken to her and she's fine.''
