Roots

He is of French Moroccan descent and was born and raised in Israel.

Welcome to the Big City

Yigal moved to the Big Apple in 1996 with $500. Two years later, he launched his first collection in New York.

In July 2004, Azrouël was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

Self-Taught

Azrouël was never formally trained in fashion design. He tells W Magazine, “I couldn't afford to go to design school, and no one would hire me because I had no papers.”

Azrouël joined the Israeli military at age 18 and served for three years.
