Kate's Birthday without Jon

On Monday night's "Jon and Kate Plus 8," Kate Gosselin spent her 34th birthday without her husband Jon by her side. Jon tells the cameras he was away on a snowboarding trip.

In the episode filmed in March, Jon said, "I went out to Utah for like five days." He added, "I just wanted to get back out there and ride with my friends. It just happened to fall on Kate's birthday."

A source tells Us Weekly that Jon was with his 23-year-old alleged mistress Deanna Hummel at a "Spring Gruv" party at The Canyon in Utah on Kate's birthday.

The mom of eight wasn't alone for her big day. Her kids and the show's producers surprised her with a bus ride to Charm City Cakes from the Food Network show "Ace of Cakes."

In a voiceover, Jon explained, "This season, sometimes you'll see Kate and I interview separately. Sometimes you'll see us interview together on the chair. It depends how things are going. We have busy schedules."

The couple were together for the on-camera testimonials, but they sat as far apart as possible or with daughter Madelyn between them.
