During an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Obama confirmed that the family's pup would arrive at the White House in early April, after a trip to Europe. "When we get back the dog will be in place," The Prez said, adding jokingly, "They say if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog."

First Lady Michelle has hinted that her family is leaning toward a Portuguese Water Dog -- but Mr. Obama was mum when Leno asked about the breed of pooch they planned on adding to the family.
