Jessica Simpson Goes Country
Her latest movie, "Blonde Ambition," has gone straight to DVD, but Jessica Simpson has more big projects lined up: She's trying for a career in country music.
The pop diva tells Billboard.com, "I am a country girl. I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to."
She adds, "I always wanted to make a country album, but I wanted to wait until the time was right."
Citing Faith Hill, Reba McEntire and Shania Twain as inspirations, she says, "I think there is a strength in female country artists."
The album is due later this year, but she's not sure if she'll tour.
"Since the record is in the beginning stages, there hasn't been much talk about a tour just yet," she says.
