Drew Carey: ‘I Thought Bob Barker Would Outlive Me’

Drew Carey is officially beginning his tenure as host of “The Price is Right,” and “Extra” was on set for the show’s first taping.

Drew, 49, is now the face of one of the most popular game shows in TV history, taking over a position that Barker held for decades.

“I thought Bob Barker was going to be there,” he admitted. “I thought he’d outlive me.”

Drew said that he hopes to stick around for at least as long as Barker hosted, an astonishing 35 years. Barker recently retired from the show at the age of 83.

“I don’t know why he quit,” said Drew. “It’s like, who would quit this job?”
